Will that bring closure to Saints fans? Or does it merely set up for another matchup down the road, potentially in the playoffs?

The Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints met in Week 2 in what was billed as a potential opportunity for closure following the controversy in the NFC Championship.

Instead, an injury and another no call likely set up more motivation for another rematch and one that could potentially come about in four months’ time.

Early on, Rams DL Aaron Donald injured Saints QB Drew Brees’ thumb knocking him out of the game. Obviously, it changed the tenor and course of the game entirely. Similarly, the refs amazingly botched a call in the second quarter ruling a fumble by Rams QB Jared Goff an incomplete pass erasing what would have been a touchdown on the return from Saints EDGE Cameron Jordan.

Fortunately for Rams fans, the team turned things around in the second half offensively:

That was ultimately how the Rams persevered as the Rams got a bit more in the ground game and Goff settled in while the defense blanketed the Saints’ passing game with a phenomenal game from the secondary.

The Rams move to 2-0 and will turn toward a Week 3 Sunday night battle against the 0-1 Cleveland Browns who play the New York Jets tomorrow.
