Injury report: Quarterback Case Keenum sits out Wednesday’s practice

Here is your Wednesday injury report for the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens.

The Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens released their first injury reports of the week earlier today. The Broncos have been dealing with optimal health to begin the season, but the injury big gets everyone eventually.

The notable name sitting out practice today for the Broncos was starting quarterback, Case Keenum.

Thankfully for the Broncos and Keenum, the knee injury is minor and today was just precautionary to give him some extra rest.

After practice, Head Coach Vance Joseph was asked about Keenum’s knee injury and he stated: “It’s a little sore and he’s going to practice tomorrow.”. He was then asked if he was in danger of missing Sunday’s game against the Ravens and Joseph said “no”. So that’s that.

The other notable injury the Broncos are dealing with this week is to starting right tackle, Jared Veldheer. He suffered a concussion during Sunday’s game against the Raiders and is now in the concussion protocol. He will need to be cleared medically to play Sunday so his status will be something to watch throughout the week.

Joseph was asked about Veldheer’s status and he said Veldheer is “progressing” but they will need to see where he is at the end of the week.

“Not yet. It happened on Sunday and it’s only Wednesday. He’s progressing, so we’ll see on Friday how much he can do on the field.”

Hopefully, for the Broncos and Veldheer, he can be cleared by Friday and Saturday and is able to be out there for the Broncos on Sunday. If not, look for Billy Turner to get the start at right tackle for the Broncos.

LInebacker Brandon Marshall and cornerback Adam Jones sat out today’s practice as well, but neither injury seems serious. Head Coach Vance Joseph said he was “very hopeful” that these guys will play Sunday.

“Yes. I’m very hopeful. Obviously, you don’t know as the week progresses, but I’m very hopeful all four guys should have a chance to play.”

As for the Ravens, they also had a few key players sit out today’s practice as well. Alex Collins (illness), Willie Henry (abdomen), Hayden Hurst (foot), C.J. Mosley (knee), and Michael Pierce (foot) did not practice today.

Collins figures to be fine for the game since he is just dealing with an illness. As for Willie Henry and rookie Hayden Hurst, both are expected to miss Sunday’s game with the Broncos.

The big names here are inside linebacker C.J. Mosley and defensive lineman, Michael Pierce. Mosley figures to miss the game with a bone bruise he suffered last Thursday Night against the Bengals. This is a major loss to the Ravens middle of their defense. Big Michael Pierce’s status remains unknown, but if he misses the game as well, it will be a major hit to the Ravens defense.

Keep in mind that this Ravens defense is already without starting cornerback Jimmy Smith so these injuries weaken an already weakened defense for the Broncos. A defense that allowed 4 touchdown passes to Andy Dalton just last week.

Here is your entire Wednesday injury report for the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens.
