The return of JMatt?
Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews was reportedly spotted at the team’s headquarters on Tuesday afternoon. At least, 6ABC’s Jamie Apody is “pretty sure” she saw him.

Pretty sure I just saw former #Eagles WR Jordan Matthews coming out of the NovaCare Complex with a smoothie in hand. Take from that what you will...@6abc pic.twitter.com/tQs9lh6EC0
It’s entirely possible the Eagles are re-signing Matthews since Philadelphia is so thin at wide receiver right now. After waiving DeAndre Carter earlier today, the Eagles only have three healthy receivers on the 53-man roster: Nelson Agholor, Kamar Aiken, and Shelton Gibson.
It’s also possible the Eagles just brought Matthews to Philly for a workout to check up on his health status. Matthews injured his hamstring during training camp practice with the Patriots in August. New England later waived him with an injury settlement.
JMatt returning to the Eagles wouldn’t be a shock in the sense that he knows the offense and Carson Wentz loves him.
It would be surprising from the standpoint that the Eagles don’t really need to add another possession receiver who’s strictly limited to playing in the slot. With Mike Wallace missing time, Philadelphia could really use someone who’s capable of stretching the field. JMatt isn’t that guy and it would force Nelson Agholor to play more often on the outside. Agholor is capable of doing that, but he’s been most effective in the slot.
The Eagles clearly showed they didn’t think the world of Matthews by including him as a throw-in for the Ronald Darby trade last year. But the team’s desperation, combined with Wentz’s preference, could push them to bring him back to Philly.
We’ll see what happens.

UPDATE: NBC Sports Philadelphia reports the Eagles did indeed bring Jordan Matthews to Philly for a workout. That doesn’t necessarily guarantee they’ll sign him, but it certainly could mean they will.
Jordan Matthews is working out for the Eagles today, a source confirms to @RoobNBCS. https://t.co/xU97tmyOR5
