New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur has Odell Beckham Jr.’s back. Shurmur was asked after the Giants’ 34-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night why Beckham left the field early before halftime. Shurmur said that Beckham left the field to get an IV because he was dehydrated. Beckham did the same thing in the team’s loss to the Carolina Panthers the week before. The TV announcers for that game said Beckham went into the locker room early before halftime because of dehydration issues. From what I recall watching last week’s game, there was about a minute-and-a-half left in the half last week when Beckham exited. There were two seconds left on the clock this time, and the Giants had the ball when Beckham left. In both cases, Beckham’s early exit was ascribed to dehydration. Rightly or wrongly, the actions are being interpreted by many as a manifestation of Beckham’s frustration. The wide receiver did show some frustration when he beat up a cooling fan on the team’s sideline later in the game.
