Updated Super Bowl LII Odds (Oct 9th)

Latest Super Bowl Odds

The first set of NFL future odds to come out every year from sports betting sites are usually Super Bowl odds. Fans love to check them out to see where their team is ranked as an early preview to the upcoming season. However, for those who believe in the changes being made a team or see the potential of a team on the rise, love to get in early for a chance at a big payoff down the road. We’re only a quarter of the way through the NFL season but so far 2018 looks to be one of those years where putting a wager on a long shot might have been a smart move.

To my surprise, I didn’t write a Super Bowl Odds article in the spring, however, I did find odds from Forbes.com that were posted on FEB 4th 2018, and here’s a quick recap to the biggest risers

Kansas City Chiefs
Then 30 to 1 | Now 6 to 1

Without a doubt, the Chiefs are the biggest Super Bowl odds risers from earlier in the year to now. If you’re a fan looking to place a wager on the Chiefs to win it all, you’re late to the party. The Chiefs spiked from 30 to 1, to 6 to 1 in the last few weeks and likely will only inch forward as we get closer to the playoffs.

I remember being very high on the Chiefs over the summer, but it was more from a Kareem Hunt standpoint, I honestly thought he’d be doing a lot more. Turns out, the running game has been an afterthought in the high-powered Patrick Mahomes passing game. Mahomes sat out almost all of last year but did get in some work week 17 after the Chiefs had clinched the playoffs. He made some nice throws, but clearly, it wasn’t enough to convince oddsmakers that he was worth being a player on the rise when the early 2018 Super Bowl odds came out. For anyone who got in early, congrats as I think you’ll have a legit shot with your bet this season.

Los Angeles Rams
Then 17.5 to 1 | Now 3 to 1

The Rams look unstoppable and are playing in arguably the weakest division in the league. Goff and company could set a team record for clinching a playoff spot early. The Rams currently have a 3 game lead over the Seahawks and should have things nearly locked up by Thanksgiving.

The Rams increased their odds to win the Super Bowl by almost a 3rd, is also a little surprising as they were a good team last season. Having a powder puff schedule last season might had something to do with it, but looking back, I think 10 to 1 would have made more sense.

New Orleans Saints
Then 18.5 to 1 | Now 3 to 1

The Saints were one play away from making it to the NFC championship game last year and fall into the same category as the Rams, where the odds to win the Super Bowl probably should have been better at the start of the year. The 2018 version of the Saints look even more lethal on offense and are blowing the doors off their opponents each week. However, I will say, the Saints schedule has been a little light to start the season. The Buc’s, Browns, Falcons, Giant, and Skins haven’t exactly challenged Drew Brees and that New Orleans offense early this season. If you got in at 18.5 to 1, you must be excited, but I would be a little concerned about the Saints 30th ranked passing defense.

If you missed out on early season odds, do fret, there are still a few mid-range teams to place wagers on. Teams like the Eagles (20 to 1), Ravens (25 to 1) or Steelers (22 to 2) may have had some tough losses, but there is still time to make corrections and make strong playoff pushes.

Good luck and always bet responsibly.
