Four players for your daily fantasy lineups.
If you’re a daily fantasy player, before each game I will look at three/four players from the New Orleans Saints and their opponent’s rosters that I would target in daily fantasy (based off their value and potential results).
Obviously, Saints QB Drew Brees is a safe QB for daily fantasy leagues, but spending your money on a top-tier starting QB leaves you scraping the barrel to fill out the rest of your roster.
aSo here are two Saints and two Falcons that provide the most bang for your buck. (Values from Fanduel.)
QB Drew Brees (NO) - $9,000
Drew Brees is going to win the 2018 NFL MVP Award this year. But to do so, Sean Payton is going to need to put Brees in a position to have the stats that justify Brees winning over Patrick Mahomes. Payton knows what the deal is; even though Brees is the most expensive QB in daily fantasy this week, look for Brees to drop back to pass more often than not against a still-struggling Atlanta secondary.
WR Michael Thomas (NO) - $8,800
Michael Thomas is tied for the most expensive WR in daily fantasy this week, but the Saints have shown that Atlanta has no answer for the Brees-Thomas connection. I fully expect Drew to have a monster game, and the biggest beneficiary will be “Can’t Guard Mike.”
RB Ito Smith (ATL) - $5,100
If this game plays out like we all think it could, the Falcons could be playing from behind a lot. Smith is a great play this week. The Saints have shown they can stop the run, so it might be a long day for Tevin Coleman, but Smith as the passing back could find plenty of work. At $3,800 cheaper than the most expensive RB available this week, he’s an incredible value play.
WR Calvin Ridley (ATL) - $6,500
Ridley is another great value play this week, especially considering he lit up the Saints secondary (mostly PJ Williams and Ken Crawley) in Week 3. If Atlanta wants to have any chance of winning, they’ll need to put up points, and with Marshon Lattimore likely shadowing Julio Jones, Eli Apple out wide against Mohamed Sanu, that leaves Williams again with the tough task of guarding Ridley. At $2,300 cheaper than the most expensive WRs this week, he’s a high-risk/high-reward player.
