It’s off to the desert for the Raiders, where there may be a dry heat, but the air is not filled with smoke. That smoke, of course, is from the Northern California fires which, had the game been in Oakland this weekend, probably would have had to be rescheduled. As it stands they were forced to practice the past two days indoors.
This isn’t expected to be a great game. Their combined record is 3-16, making this one the battle for draft position. The Raiders face the team they gifted the tenth overall pick to so they could select Josh Rosen. It was a gift because the 3rd round pick they received to trade down from 10 to 15 they used to acquire Martavis Bryant who was eventually cut and re-signed and is now injured with just 19 catches for 266 yards on the season.
Instead, the Raiders took the guy who protected Rosen’s blindside at UCLA, Kolton Miller. He has mostly had Derek Carr blindsided this season, giving up 10 sacks. We’ll see if he can keep Cardinals’ sack leader Chandler Jones from getting in the Raiders’ backfield and if the Raiders pass rush can do something against a pass blocking unit that has allowed 18 sacks the past four weeks.
