Houston Texans star J.J. Watt has donated $10,000 to the family of a Wisconsin firefighter who tragically lost his life recently after being shot while responding to a call. Mitchell Lundgaard, a 14-year veteran of the Appleton Fire Department, was killed by a gunman at a downtown transit center after responding to a medical emergency. A police officer and bystander were also wounded in the incident, and the suspected gunman was ultimately killed. Watt, a native of Waukesha, Wisconsin, who rose to football stardom with the Wisconsin Badgers, pledged the money to Lundgaard’s family on a GoFundMe page set up in the wake of his death. Nearly $90,000 of the stated goal of $250,000 has been met. Firefighting is something near and dear to Watt’s heart, as his father was a longtime fireman. Watt also previously made a similar $10,000 donation to the family of Cory Barr, another Wisconsin firefighter who lost his life in an explosion.
