Panthers sign wide receiver Aldrick Robinson to a one-year contract

The Panthers bolstered their wide receiver depth with another veteran addition.

The Carolina Panthers have added another weapon to the wide receiver arsenal. The team announced today that Aldrick Robinson will be joining the squad on a one-year deal.

Robinson joins a wide receiver room with D.J. Moore, Curtis Samuel, Jarius Wright, Torrey Smith, and Chris Hogan, making this probably the deepest wide receiver corps we’ve ever seen in Carolina. Cam Newton will have no shortage of weapons this season.

Robinson is coming off a season where he hauled in 17 passes for 231 yards and five touchdowns with the Minnesota Vikings. He surpassed former first round pick Laquon Treadwell on the depth chart and proved a reliable third receiver behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs.

Since returning to the league in 2016 after one year out of football, Robinson has converted nine of his 56 catches into touchdowns. He’s a big play threat that can open up the middle of the field for the Panthers underneath wide receivers.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but it’s more than likely a minimal amount of money at this stage of free agency.
