Ravens News 5/16: Considering a McPhee return, RB strength of schedule and more

Ravens mulling a Pernell McPhee return - Andrew Ortenberg

The Baltimore Ravens appear to be looking for help on the edge in the later stages of NFL free agency. They brought in former Rams outside linebacker Matt Longacre for a visit earlier this week, and are considering reuniting with a familiar name.

The Ravens are “considering Pernell McPhee,” per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. Zrebiec notes that the Ravens “continue to explore what’s left on veteran pass rusher market,” and it sounds like they’ll be making a move soon one way or the other.

Reviewing Baltimore Ravens 2018 draft class: What can we expect in Year 2? - Aaron Kasinitz

Round 4, 122nd pick: ILB Kenny Young

2018 stats: 16 games (three starts), 51 combined tackles, 1 pass defended, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery

What now: Young made an immediate impact as a rookie, chipping in on both defense and special teams. And he could take on heightened responsibilities this year after Pro Bowl inside linebacker C.J. Mosley left for the Jets in free agency. As the roster is currently constructed, Young’s in line to morph from a rotational piece into a bona fide starter.

Round 7, 238th pick: DE Zach Sieler

2018 stats: Two games (zero starts); 1 solo tackle

What now: After he spent much of his rookie season on the bench, Sieler will have a shot to compete for more playing time in Year 2. Brent Urban’s departure opens a spot on the regular defensive line rotation that Sieler could fill if he impresses coaches for the next few months.

The New 2019 Strength of Schedule: Running Backs (Fantasy Football) - Mike Tagliere

Mark Ingram (BAL) SOS Score: +7

I’m not going to pretend that his schedule is great, because it’s not. However, it’s definitely not bad, as he’ll play against just two of the top-eight defenses all year. He should also get off to a fast start, as he’ll play the Dolphins, Cardinals, Chiefs, and Browns, four teams who ranked in the bottom-10 of my strength of schedule chart. As long as the Ravens are in the game and not falling too far behind, Ingram’s schedule should be considered a plus.
