2019 Week 2: Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers

The first road test of the year for the purple

With the 2019 regular season opener behind them, the Minnesota Vikings will take to the road for the first time this season on Sunday afternoon. Just like last season, their first road trip of the year will be a short jaunt down the road to Lambeau Field, as they’ll take on the Green Bay Packers in an NFC North divisional matchup.

The Vikings haven’t lost to the Packers since the day after Christmas in 2016, but only have a one-game winning streak thanks to last year’s game at Lambeau. That was the afternoon where, after making a furious comeback to tie the game at 29-29, Vikings fans watched as rookie kicker Daniel Carlson missed two makeable field goals in the extra frame to send both teams home with a tie. The Vikings went on to win the second tilt between the two teams at U.S. Bank Stadium, defeating the Packers by a final score of 24-17 on Sunday Night Football.

The Packers won their season opener, as they kicked off the season last Thursday night against the Chicago Bears. Good defense. . .or bad offense, depending on one’s perspective. . .was the order of the night, as the Packers emerged victorious by a final score of 10-3.

That means that the winner of Sunday’s game at Lambeau will have the early lead in the NFC North, although we know there’s still plenty of football left to be played.

Kickoff for this one is scheduled for noon on Sunday, 15 September, and the game will be broadcast on FOX.
