Packers Week 2 Injury Report: Lots of names on Wednesday’s list, but few major concerns

NFL: NFC Divisional-Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Several important Packers were among the 15 on the team’s first injury report of the week, but there shouldn’t be any significant absences on Sunday.

For the second straight week in this regular season, the Green Bay Packers have a very lengthy injury report. The team will hold its home opener on Sunday, hosting Minnesota Vikings in week two, and both teams released practice participation lists with numerous names on them on Wednesday — and big names, at that.

For the Packers, a full three-fifths of the starting offensive line showed up on the first report of the week. That would normally be cause for some concern, but in fact it appears that none of the injuries are severe. In fact, one of those three players, right tackle Bryan Bulaga, was listed as a limited participant solely because of having a reduced workload as a long-tenured veteran player. He was one of two players to receive that designation, as he was joined by cornerback Tramon Williams — the oldest player on the roster at 36 years of age.

Of the Packers’ reported injury issues, only a few seem notable. Linebacker Oren Burks likely remains out for another week, but that comes as no surprise. Really, the only new injury that cost any player practice time was to cornerback Kevin King, who was limited on Wednesday. He was on last week’s reports with a hamstring injury, but this week has a chest ailment added to his status. Otherwise, the remainder of the reported issues for Packers players were either well-known to this point or did not cost the players any practice time.

On the other side, the Vikings listed nine players on Wednesday’s report compared to the Packers’ 15. Two Vikings did not practice at all, including one of the team’s key defensive backs and a starter on the offensive line. The team’s two starting defensive ends both appeared on the report as well, but both practiced fully. In between were another backup cornerback and a starting linebacker, but the Vikings appear to be on track to be at nearly-full strength come Sunday.

Here are the team’s reports for Wednesday.
