Related: What signing Antonio Brown means for the Patriots
On Saturday, the New England Patriots made an enormous transaction when they brought Antonio Brown in on a one-year contract worth up to $15 million. Brown, of course, was released by the Oakland Raiders just a few hours earlier following a summer filled with controversy. Despite his unceremonious departure from Oakland, however, the fact remains that the 31-year-old is still one of the best wide receivers in the entire NFL.
Needless to say that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is pretty excited about the addition. In fact, he even offered Brown to move in with him until he finds a home of his own in New England. Why do we know? NBC’s Al Michaels told the story during the pregame show leading up to tonight’s regular season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers — and it was just one of the anecdotes the veteran broadcaster shared.
“[Patriots owner Robert] Kraft also told me that when he broke the news to Tom Brady yesterday, Brady initially said ‘I’m a hundred percent in.’ Two minutes later, Tom came back, said to Kraft, ‘I’m a thousand percent in.’ Then he came back two minutes later, said ‘I’m a million percent in,’” Michaels said before sharing a story from Antonio Brown’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus: “Brady told Brown ‘come move in with me until you get settled in New England.’”
Sounds like the Brady-Brown relationship is already off to a promising start.
