Would be a bummer, but I wonder if they bother brining up somebody or just go heavy at another position, WR or RB, perhaps...

So @NFL @NFLOfficiating , looking like Jordan Reed will be unable to play in the Skins opener after vicious hit. But the player who caused a traumatic brain injury gets to play. Do you see a problem here? That player should be unavailable until the player he injured is cleared.

And what I mean by this - is as a vested vet, if Adrian Peterson is on the roster after 4 ET today, his full base salary is guaranteed for 2019 at $1.03 M.

Hopefully #Skins are not super cheap here & release him to avoid that.

Here‘s the wrap up from an interesting day (to say the least) at the #Raiders facility. The players shared how they reacted to Antonio Brown‘s apology. RB Jalen Richard says the team knocked on wood to make it official. @nflnetwork pic.twitter.com/qofZjn5WJb

— Drew Cook (@drew3cook) September 7, 2019
In all: Antonio Brown screamed at Mike Mayock, punted a ball and yelled “fine me for that.” And they did, more than $215K, plus voiding all his guarantees of $30M. AB asked for his release, knowing he’s entitled to $0. And the team hasn’t responded. Two days until game day.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 7, 2019
The language in Raiders WR Antonio Brown's contract: "If at any time Player does not report to Club; does not practice or play with Club; leaves Club w/o prior written approval ... then player shall be in default and the Skill, Injury and Cap guarantee shall be null and void."
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) September 7, 2019
I just got an email from Antonio Brown. He tells me the team “took away my guarantees.” He added there’s “no way I play after they took that and made my contract week to week.” So at this moment, once again, don’t expect AB to play on Monday Night Football.
— Jeff Darlington (@JeffDarlington) September 7, 2019
‘Ain’t no more games’.
— BGObsession.com (@BGObsession) September 7, 2019
I have to wonder - is it possible that this could end up being a pretty prophetic sound byte from Antonio Brown?
It’s starting to sound that Antonio Brown’s next route is leaving Oakland. He’s been fined more than $300,000. All the Raiders have paid him is a $1 million signing bonus. They are voiding his guarantees. He wants to be traded. Wow
— John Clayton (@JohnClaytonNFL) September 7, 2019
The #Raiders also say the conduct detrimental fine voids the guarantees in his contract. AB got a sizable raise from the #Raiders upon the trade from Pittsburgh, but they haven't paid him yet. Most of 2019 compensation is in a $14.625M base salary that's now in jeopardy.
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) September 7, 2019
The problem for the #Raiders with a release is they need to be 100% sure that the guarantees are indeed voided. If the Raiders lost a grievance this year not only would they owe him $29.875M but would need to quickly restructure deals to be cap compliant
— Jason_OTC (@Jason_OTC) September 7, 2019
Antonio Brown may be walking right into placement on the reserve/left squad list -- which would keep him from playing for the Raiders or any other team in 2019 https://t.co/KaaP3VPkTw
— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) September 7, 2019
Antonio Brown burned his feet in a cryotherapy chamber and it’s about the 20th craziest thing he’s done this offseason.

2018: The #Raiders trade Khalil Mack nine days before the season opener.
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) September 7, 2019
2019: The #Raiders initiate divorce proceedings with Antonio Brown three days before the season opener.
Rarely see these things with a team's best player, much less two years in a row.
Melvin Gordon: "Hey..I'm still holding out." ♂️
— Andrew Brandt (@AndrewBrandt) September 7, 2019
The next big question with Antonio Brown is: Does he keep showing up to work? If not, the #Raiders could commence a process that’d end with AB playing for no one — and making no money — in 2019. @nflnetwork @gmfb pic.twitter.com/xWLnqwMRyD
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) September 7, 2019
Texting a AFC scout on if Antonio Brown will get another job if released by Oakland:
— Master (@MasterTes) September 7, 2019
“Shiiiiiit. He can get a job. Maybe not at that number, but he can get a job.
The thing that people are missing is that owners love AB. He sells. Positively/Negatively - he makes them money.”
The Raiders announce they’ve released Antonio Brown.

From @gmfb Weekend: The #Raiders have moved on from WR Antonio Brown, paying him $0 but also giving him his wish to be a free agent. pic.twitter.com/3CMZFuzlJ0
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 7, 2019
Antonio Brown came to the Raiders after tearing down the Steelers locker room and quitting on them in Week 17 last year. He said this offseason that his next team will have to play by his rules. Literal quote. Raiders gave him fat new deal.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) September 7, 2019
Zero catches. All the drama. Gone.
If you are keeping score at home: #Raiders WR Antonio Brown was not playing Monday night, then was playing, then asked to be released, now got his answer and was released.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 7, 2019
Antonio Brown is not subject to waivers. He can now sign with any team ... and there's a lot of homework for those teams to do.
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) September 7, 2019

— Chris Mortensen (@mortreport) September 7, 2019
A team signing Antonio Brown would be a massive win for players and a massive loss for teams in the ever-evolving power structure. It would be a sign that stars are above reproach and playing by your own rules is okay. "If you're good enough, you can call your own shots."
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) September 7, 2019
Under the @BarstoolBigCat theory that dysfunctional teams do dysfunctional things, look for Washington to pursue Antonio Brown.
— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) September 7, 2019
#raiders should now have about $28M in cap space this year. Including carryover they should be in the ballpark of $85 million next year. This all assumes they dont lose anything in a grievance
— Jason_OTC (@Jason_OTC) September 7, 2019
I'm re-watching the Antonio Brown introductory press conference as a Raider. This is great. "I bring accountability. I bring not what I say, what I do. How I approach things. Holding guys accountable."

Patriots have a history of adding controversial players: Randy Moss, Albert Haynesworth, Chad Ochocinco, Corey Dillon. Their success has been mixed. But they firmly believe that such players will not create problems with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady around.

But figuring out how much more valuable it is to have a great RB than a weak one is still a tricky question.
— Football Perspective (@fbgchase) September 6, 2019
Because we have stats for RBs, we are more prone to make grand conclusions. See, Gurley and Anderson, or KC without Kareem Hunt.
But what about positions w/o stats?
I do feel confident about one thing: a good RB is more valuable than a good inside linebacker. We don’t talk about ILBs not mattering, tho, because of fantasy football https://t.co/KMfTODPtWA
