Just days after the Houston Texans moved on from free-agent bust Aaron Colvin, Washington struck quickly on Friday to sign the veteran cornerback. Washington confirmed the move. Colvin, who signed a four-year, $38 million deal with Houston during the 2018 offseason, routinely struggled to cover any wide receiver opponents put out against him during his time with the Texans. His final game captured his problems with Houston as New Orleans routinely targeted him in coverage. Washington will be hoping it can rediscover Colvin’s old form that made him an impactful slot corner earlier in his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. At the very least, he’ll provide veteran depth to a secondary that needs it.
