Fantasy Football Preview: Week 6

Evan Birchfield is here to prepare you for your fantasy matchups!

Greetings, Falcoholics! Last week we had the pleasure of watching our Atlanta Falcons get embarrassed by the Houston Texans in a 32-53 loss. A lot of fantasy points were scored in the game, and perhaps you had a couple of the players to help lessen the blow. Let’s look more closely.

As mentioned, the Texans had their way with the Falcons. Most notable was Texans wide receiver Will Fuller V who had a very impressive 14 catches, 217 yards and three touchdowns. Prior to the Falcons matchup, Fuller had zero receiving touchdowns and no more than 69 yards in a game in 2019. Deshaun Watson also had his best game of the season, finishing with five passing touchdowns, 426 passing yards, and 47 rushing yards, all of which are season-highs for the explosive quarterback.

In Week 6, the Falcons are headed out west to face the Arizona Cardinals. If you have (or can add) Cardinals’ quarterback Kyler Murray, do it right now. Atlanta has given up the second-most points to opposing quarterbacks and have made average quarterbacks look elite. It pains me to say it, but look for Murray to have the best game of his young career.

Let’s turn to the Falcons for a moment as they also have some fantasy relevance in a potential high-scoring game. Someone I really like this week is Falcons wide receiver Mohamed Sanu.

Sanu is rostered in just over 50% of fantasy leagues, and has finished with 13+ points in each of the last three games. Sanu typically plays in the slot, and the Cardinals just happen to be allowing the third-most receptions and yards to slot receivers. No to mention, Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley don’t lead the Falcons in receptions, Mohamed Sanu does. Love him this week.

I also predict that this will be a huge week for Cardinals wide receiver Christian Kirk, who is looking ready to play. He’s very talented, and could follow the same path as A.J. Brown and Will Fuller V.

My “lock” to do well this week also happens to be an Atlanta Falcons player. It’s none other than tight end Austin Hooper. The Cardinals are the worst team in the league against opposing teams’ tight ends, and Hooper has had a ton of volume over the last three weeks. In 2019 alone, he has had six (or more) targets in each game so far. If you’ve been reading my fantasy articles this year, you already knew Hooper was destined to break out, so hopefully you grabbed him as he’s now rostered in 98% of fantasy leagues.

Some guys currently rostered in less than 50% of fantasy leagues that you can possibly add (and should!) right now is WR Preston Williams (MIA), WR Byron Pringle (KC), WR Zay Jones (OAK), and QB Case Keenum (WAS). Also keep an eye on RB Todd Gurley and RB David Johnson who are dinged up this week. It currently sounds like Gurley is doubtful to play, so I would try and grab Malcolm Brown if still available.

Well that does it, folks. I wish everyone who took the time to read this the best of luck in their Week 6 fantasy matchups.
