Win or lose, Drew Lock brings excitement to the Broncos

At least today, hope has returned. It’s a refreshing change of pace after the atrocious seasons we have all endured.

Good morning, Broncos Country!

The excitement is back.

At least for me, in the here and now, that’s all that matters. Whether Drew Lock struggles and stumbles is secondary. It doesn’t make you less of a fan to play wait-and-see, nor more of a fan for the people who are all-in. But after three years of quarterback purgatory, I’m enjoying the moment. When and if the rookie struggles won’t lessen how much fun the Denver Broncos have been the last two weeks. And just because he does struggle doesn’t mean it still won’t be fun. On top of everything else, there’s hope again.

Now, as Adam Malnati and I talked about on the MHR Radio Podcast (Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and Spotify), if Lock follows up his performance against the Houston Texans at the Kansas City Chiefs today, Katy, bar the door. Yet even if he struggles and the Broncos lose, that shouldn’t lessen the positive feelings we have now. Whether any of this means future success for Lock and Denver, who knows?

I have a great feeling about Lock and his prospects based on his attitude, confidence and how much he wants to be great. Pair all of that with where Lock is making plays (on third down and in the red zone), and I’m like a giddy kid leading up to Christmas. When and if he struggles, he has the intangibles to ride that wave and come out even better.

But at least today, hope has returned to Broncos Country. It’s a refreshing change of pace after the atrocious seasons we have all endured.
