Two sides appear to still be in the courting stage as Paton left town without a deal.
The Cleveland Browns interviewed George Paton on Wednesday for the team’s vacant general manager position, but Paton left town without a deal.
It was the second interview between Paton and the Browns and the two sides will continue to talk, according to cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot:

Paton is one of three candidates that the Browns have interviewed for the general manager position, joining New England Patriots director of college scouting Monti Ossenfort and Philadelphia Eagles vice president of football operations Andrew Berry, but Paton is the only one to be granted a second interview for the moment.
According to Cabot, Paton did not originally want to take an interview with the Browns because he believed that Berry had the job in the bag. But Patron is interested in working with head coach Kevin Stefanski after the two spent the past 13 seasons working together with the Minnesota Vikings.
Paton spent this past season as Minnesota’s assistant general manager. According to his bio on the Vikings website, Paton’s main role with the team has been to coordinate scouting and personnel functions within the pro scouting department, while also lending his knowledge to the college scouting department during preparations for the annual NFL Draft.
While he has never been a general manager, it is not from lack of interest around the NFL. Paton has turned down the New York Jets on more than one occasion - a good sign of his decision making abilities - and was a finalist for the general manager’s job in 2017 with the San Francisco 49ers. He also interviewed with the Indianapolis Colts in 2017.
