Spagnuolo shared an anecdote about the future Hall of Famer on Thursday.
A little more than a month after being waived by the Arizona Cardinals, defensive end Terrell Suggs danced on the field after the Kansas City Chiefs’ AFC title win over the Tennessee Titans.

The seven-time Pro Bowler began the year with the Cardinals, likely never thinking he could possibly end up in Kansas City — let alone become an AFC champion. Yet there he was, basking in the moment as confetti fell in Arrowhead Stadium.
Suggs joined the team ahead of Week 16 when the Chiefs won the waiver claim.
“It’s definitely one of the most humbling feelings to be a part of, considering the history, considering the name of the championship trophy,” Suggs said after the game, referring to winning the Lamar Hunt Trophy as a member of Lamar Hunt’s team. “To actually go in there and win it, it’s an experience — and it’s priceless in itself. I’m very fortunate to be a part of it.”
Suggs played 48% of snaps against the Houston Texans in the Divisional round, recording a tackle and a quarterback hit. He came in for a little more than 50% of plays against the Tennessee Titans, recording a tackle and a pass defensed.
But more than the impact he has had on the field, he has served as another leader for the Chiefs. He is currently the only Chiefs defensive player with a championship ring, and with 17 years of experience, his fellow players are ready to listen whenever he decides to teach.
Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo explained it on Thursday.
“Last week, there was a moment — like the linebacker coaches (Matt House and Britt Reid) came over to me and said, ‘Wow.’ They said, ’T-Suggs was just over there talking about this particular technique that we do with our defensive ends, and he just put on a clinic.’
“[House] said, ‘All the linebackers — nobody said anything.’
“That’s what [Suggs] can do. I think when you come somewhere new, you don’t do that initially. So it’s kind of taken a little bit, and now I think he’s getting more comfortable. But he’s been a tremendous addition and a real help to the players in a lot of ways.”
