Vote now for the Buccaneers’ All-Decade Team - Defense

Which Buccaneers defensive players were the best of the decade? We discuss, you decide

On Wednesday’s Locked on Bucs Podcast, fellow Bucs Nation writer Bailey Adams and I discussed who the best Buccaneers defensive players were from 2010 through 2019.

To say that this discussion was a reminder of how bad the last ten years were would be an understatement.

Despite plenty of struggles and forgettable names - looking at you Chris Baker, E.J. Biggers, and Cody Grimm - there was still some talent on the defensive side of the ball through the 2010’s. Obviously names like Ronde Barber, Gerald McCoy, Lavonte David, Kwon Alexander, and Darrelle Revis all come to mind.

We did our best to put together the list of nominees even if some of the players were one-and-done in Red and Pewter.

Given that the team played primarily a 4-3 scheme through the decade, that’s what we’re focusing our voting on. We ask that you vote for two defensive tackles, two defensive ends, three linebackers, two corners, two safeties, a punter and a kicker.

Here are the nominees;

Defensive Tackle:

Gerald McCoy, Ndamukong Suh, Vita Vea, Clinton McDonald

Defensive End:

Jason Pierre-Paul, Carl Nassib, Jacquies Smith, William Gholston, Michael Bennett

Linebacker:

Lavonte David, Kwon Alexander, Devin White, Adam Hayward, Mason Foster, Shaquil Barrett

Cornerback:

Ronde Barber, Aqib Talib, Darrelle Revis, Alterraun Verner, Brent Grimes

Safety:

Ronde Barber (yes, Ronde made it twice), Dashon Goldson, Keith Tandy, Bradley McDougald, Tanard Jackson, Mark Barron, Chris Conte

Punter:

Michael Koenen, Bryan Anger

Kicker:

Matt Gay, Patrick Murray, Connor Barth

All we ask is that you don’t vote for the same player at the same position more than once. For example, if you vote for Ronde Barber for CB1 (which you will) then please vote for a different player at CB2 despite Barber being listed in each category.
