Gerald McCoy is ready for prime time.
One of the more recent additions to the Dallas Cowboys new-look defense, Gerald McCoy, has done almost everything there is to do in the NFL regular season.
All-Pro? Check.
Pro Bowl? Six checks.
Top 20 in active sack leaders? You bet, 19th.
Because of this, there is little doubt that the 6-foot-4 defensive tackle is one of the most decorated defenders in the country. However, he has never really been in the spotlight. Until now.
“Excluding Thursday Night games, in 11 years, I’ve played four primetime games,” McCoy said. “So the experience to be a Cowboy…[Tyrone Crawford] is used to this, I’m not!”
The 10-year NFL veteran spent the first nine seasons of his career in Tampa Bay before joining the Carolina Panthers for the 2019 season and landing in Dallas this offseason. With the schedule release on Thursday, it was revealed that McCoy and the Cowboys are slated for a total of five primetime games, one more than in his entire career prior to arriving in Dallas.

We have known who the Dallas Cowboys will be playing in 2020 from the moment that the 2019 season ended. Still, now knowing the full schedule for the 2020 Dallas Cowboys somehow makes the games feel more real and tangible. While we may have understood who the games will come against, knowing what goes on the weeks before and after is definitely significant.
Odds are that literally every person you know (speaking of odds, the Cowboys are favored in their first game of the season) has predicted how the Cowboys will fare this season. With an added wildcard spot in each conference you’d imagine that 10 wins will be enough to be playing into mid-January, but the NFL can be quite strange in some years.
Predicting anything is tough business but some people are obviously more well-equipped to do it than others. ESPN’s Mike Clay annual drops score projections for all 256 games and he has them up and ready for the 2020 NFL season.

9.13 Cowboys 30, at Rams 27 – Former L.A. kicker Greg Zuerlein administers another chink in Sean McVay’s armor with a game-winning, 59-yard field goal at the gun.
9.20 Falcons 38, at Cowboys 31 – Without Robert Quinn, Dallas’ punchless pass rush gives Matt Ryan and Julio Jones more than enough time.
9.27 at Seahawks 28, Cowboys 16 – After Amari Cooper mysteriously sits out game’s final three series, Jerry Jones is peppered with “Where’s Dez?” questions during post-game press conference.
10.4 Browns 35, at Cowboys 27 – Byron Jones was no ballhawk, but the Cowboys did nothing to replace him and it’ll show against Odell Beckham and his posse of talented receivers.

How important is the Cowboys final stretch of the season?
By now, Dallas Cowboys fans are used to seeing that tough Thanksgiving stretch.
Three games in twelve days has become standard over recent years, with the NFL always tacking on an extra Thursday night game for America’s Team following their holiday special.
So it was no surprise to see it again when the NFL released their 2020 schedule on Thursday night. Sunday afternoon, Thanksgiving day, and Thursday night football all in a row.
This year, however, that stretch looks even more daunting.
Dallas will open that stretch with a late afternoon game at Minnesota, one of many deep and talented NFC teams. The Cowboys played the Vikings at home in 2019, losing to them in one of the more entertaining games of the season, 28-24.
Minnesota traded away wide receiver Stefon Diggs, but they added a lot of bodies through the draft, including LSU wide out Justin Jefferson. They figure to be a tough team once again in 2020, and playing them on the road will be no easy task for the Cowboys.
Then, of course, comes Thanksgiving. The NFL scheduled a divisional matchup with the Washington Redskins for this year’s Turkey day, and while the Redskins are clearly in rebuilding mode, inter-NFC East games are always hard fought.

Will Donovan Wilson get starts at safety this year?
Rob: Well, a new coaching staff can mean a clean slate for a young player like Wilson. But experience was the major factor in keeping him off the field last year. Not only were Jeff Heath and Xavier Woods established players at safety, the previous staff trusted Darian Thompson to make the right decisions when he played back there. Woods is back, Thompson is back, HaHa Clinton-Dix should have a big role, and it’s always possible the Cowboys move a cornerback to safety to help with numbers if needed.
David: Day 3 draft picks are a lot like lottery tickets. If one of them hits, that’s absolutely awesome. But it’s not exactly a sound financial strategy to bank on winning the Powerball. Hopefully Donovan Wilson can continue to progress and push for playing time, but I’m not exactly surprised that he’s behind three experienced starters on the depth chart. But I’m excited to see where he is in his progression.

The (oddsmakers’ over/under) number is set at 34.5 million dollars.
Hmmm. Given the fact that we know that $35 million APY is in play ... is there something that the oddsmakers know that we do not?
We don’t believe so. There remains the possibility that Prescott, who has helped the Cowboys to two NFC East championships in his four years and is coming off a 2019 season in which he experienced statistical career-highs across the board, could “bet on himself’’ again and play for the $31.409 million tag - in which case my guy Corey would lose his bet.
As we have been following this story in trying to get rid of the “insult’’ angle and the “Andy Dalton QB controversy’’ angle, we’ve leaned to the idea that a long-term deal will get done by the deadline to do so, July 15.
The final issue in negotiations, however, is a large one: Prescott and agent Todd France want a shorter-term deal (four years) in order for the QB to get another, quicker bite at the apple after the NFL deal with the TV networks expires following the 2022 season - when the salary cap, and players’ salaries, will skyrocket.

How does the NFC East division rival view the Cowboys draft class?
Well, to the disappointment of New York Giants fans everywhere, the Dallas Cowboys had a very strong 2020 draft. As post-draft grades have been handed out to teams, the Cowboys seem to consistently receive A+ after A+. While the Giants would have wanted to see Jerry Jones disappointed from his yacht, that was not the case.
Let’s take a deeper look into the Cowboys 2020 NFL Draft class haul.
Round 1 (No. 17 overall): CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
Many mocks did not indicate CeeDee Lamb would still be available with the No. 17 overall pick. If the Cowboys really wanted Lamb, I would have guessed that they would need to trade up to get him. But somehow Lamb was there waiting when the Cowboys’ turn rolled around. And though the Cowboys did not necessarily need a wide receiver (they did just sign Amari Cooper to a blockbuster contract this offseason and have 1,000-yard receiver Michael Gallup), they adjusted their draft plan and went with the best player available.
