It’s football Sunday! Check out your latest Cowboys news on this glorious day!

Rams monitoring air quality for ‘SNF’ opener - Staff, NFL

We’ve been waiting a long time for some football, but will we have to wait even longer?

NFL officials and the Los Angeles Rams are monitoring the air quality in Inglewood, California, to assess whether issues caused by wildfires in the state could pose health concerns and affect the start time of Sunday night’s Dallas Cowboys-Rams season opener at the new SoFi Stadium, NFL Network’s Steve Wyche reported per a Rams official.

Projections are positive that the game will not be impacted the air, which has been problematic for metro Los Angeles, the official told Wyche.

If the game needs to be delayed, options are moving it to later in the week or relocating. That decision would come from the league.

Cowboys Move DB Brandon Carr Off Practice Squad To Roster - Mike Fisher, Sports Illustrated

Guess who’ll be joining the active roster tonight? The streak is still alive!

A week ago he was an unemployed 13-year NFL veteran. Then, thanks to a new COVID-19 CBA rule, he was allowed to join the Dallas Cowboys practice squad, becoming one of the two oldest and most veteran players to do so. And now, after a week of practice inside The Star, Carr is on the trip to Los Angeles and on the 55-man roster for the Cowboys at Rams game scheduled for Sunday night at SoFi Stadium.

“I stay ready,” Carr told us this week. ”My grind never stops. I’m always staying ready for an opportunity. ... I’m ready to do what it takes to make this squad, but (also) to make the team as competitive as we can be to make a run.”

Gut Feeling: Staff Predictions For Cowboys-Rams - Staff, Dallas Cowboys

The staff over at the Mothership share what’s in their gut when it comes to what they expect to see on Sunday night.

David Helman: I feel like I might as well be sitting down to watch the latest Batman movie – tons of excitement, with very little detail about what to expect. For months, I’ve been collecting snippets of information. Rumors, gossip, the occasional sneak peek video. But honestly, on the eve of this 2020 season, what on Earth do we actually know? We know the Cowboys have a bunch of talented players on offense, and the Rams have the most talented player on defense. In every other aspect, we’re flying completely blind. So until we get more data, I’m not going to overthink this. The Cowboys’ offense should be among the best in the league. Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey are both amazing players, but I don’t think they have enough help – and they can’t do it all on their own. I think the Rams’ offense is a lot better than people want to give it credit for, especially now that their offensive line is healthy. But I think the Cowboys are better suited to stop the run than they have been in the recent past, and I also don’t trust Jared Goff to be mistake-free against this pass rush. In a back-and-forth game, I trust the Cowboys to make more plays and open SoFi Stadium with a 27-23 win.

Sunday Night Football: Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Rams Prediction and Preview - Rob McVey, Athlon Sports

A game review and a final score prediction.

Final Analysis

The Rams will be amped to play on the big Sunday night stage in their brand-new stadium, but not having fans in attendance sort of negates any real home-field advantage. Plus, it’s safe to say that the Cowboys will be equally pumped to be breaking in the new stadium on SNF. Jared Goff should be able to find success in the passing game against a suspect Dallas secondary, but that may be the Rams’ only advantage in this matchup.

The Rams did nothing to improve a defense that Dallas completely dismantled in last season’s 44-21 blowout win. And as great as Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey may be, they can only cover so much ground. The Cowboys simply have too much firepower on offense for this defense. Dallas will usher in the Mike McCarthy era with a big win on the road to spoil the Rams’ first game in SoFi Stadium.

Prediction: Cowboys 30, Rams 24

NFL picks, predictions against spread Week 1: Saints stop Tom Brady, Buccaneers; Cowboys rip Rams - Vinnie Iyer, Sporting News

A trip around the league for game predictions.

Cowboys (-2.5, 52 o/u) at Rams

Sunday 8:20 p.m. ET, NBC

The Cowboys didn’t travel to Southern California to train in Oxnard ahead of this season so they will want to make amends for missing out on their L.A.-area fans. Dak Prescott doesn’t have his long-term contract, but he will still be focused and motivated to have another big year with an extra elite weapon in rookie wideout CeeDee Lamb. Mike McCarthy will leave a strong first impression with his offense and defense pumped for the new coach. McVay saw his team further gutted talent-wise and Prescott will easily outduel Jared Goff as Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey can do only so much against Dallas.

Pick: Cowboys win 31-24 and cover the spread.

Sunday Night Football odds, line: Rams vs. Cowboys picks, predictions from expert who’s 28-12 on L.A. games - Staff, CBS Sports

A Rams expert weighs in on the game and explains how the Cowboys could prevail on Sunday.

Why the Cowboys can cover

Quarterback Dak Prescott is coming off a career year as he set personal bests with 4,902 passing yards and 30 touchdown tosses. The 27-year-old from Mississippi State helped get Dallas off to a strong start last season, throwing nine TD passes and only two interceptions as the team won its first three contests. Prescott had a pair of dangerous receivers at his disposal last year and figures to have another in 2020. Amari Cooper led the Cowboys with a career-high 1,189 receiving yards, while Michael Gallup was right on his heels with 1,107, more than double the total he had as a rookie in 2018 (507). Dallas added a third potential 1,000-yard wideout in the 2020 NFL Draft, selecting CeeDee Lamb from Oklahoma with the 17th overall pick. The 21-year-old had 62 catches for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Sooners last season before deciding to forego his senior year.

Lineup predictions, concerns, what to expect vs. Rams & 18 other Cowboys notes - Jon Machota, The Athletic

Going through everything you need to know for the season opener, including the long awaited debut of the offense’s new toy.

6.) CeeDee Lamb’s rookie debut.

This is one of the biggest storylines entering the game. While he was excellent during training camp practices, he has yet to play any live snaps. He’s expected to be used in a variety of ways, from being in the slot to possibly getting a carry or two and being a factor in the return game. One of Lamb’s greatest strengths at Oklahoma was his ability to break tackles and make defenders miss in the open field. Sunday night will be the first time we actually see that on display against NFL players.

Dallas Cowboys: 3 bold predictions for Week 1 vs. Rams - Evan Massey, Clutch Points

Some are even predicting a splash debut for the Cowboys new first-round pick.

3. CeeDee Lamb Torches The Rams In His NFL Debut

Lamb was projected to be a top-12 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but ended up falling to No. 17 overall to the Cowboys. His addition will give opposing defenses nightmares. Dallas has three wide receivers who are more than capable of racking up 1,000 receiving yards on the season. In his NFL debut against the Rams, Lamb is going to put up huge numbers. He will catch nine passes for 120 yards and at least one touchdown. Lamb could end up scoring twice. That debut will give the Cowboys even more reason for excitement.

Enemy Intel: 5 questions with Rams Wire and Week 1 predictions - K.D. Drummond, Cowboys Wire

KD chats it up with their sister site over on the Rams Wire in attempt to gain some Rams insight, including what to expect from Jared Goff.

Cowboys Wire: Talk to us about Jared Goff. He had his worst season under Sean McVay of his career, but threw the most passes. He seems to be a distant memory in the conversation for best QB from the 2016 class, is it looking like a bounce back season for him or is there concern about his future?

Rams WIre: I actually think Goff is poised to rebound in 2020. The Rams’ offensive line should be better, the running game will hopefully be more efficient and he has an outstanding group of pass catchers at his disposal. Not to mention, the arrival of Kevin O’Connell as his quarterbacks coach and new offensive coordinator should help, too. He certainly didn’t have a good 2019 season, but he got no help from his offensive line or running game, leaving the offense unbalanced and completely reliant on his arm – which isn’t a good recipe. I think he’ll bounce back and cut down on the interceptions, while also being more efficient without having to lead the NFL in pass attempts.
