Golden Nuggets: What are your expectations for Sanu?

The San Francisco 49ers did practice Tuesday, but they still were in the news as the Niners signed veteran wide receiver Mohamed Sanu.

O.J. Simpson upset by Jimmy Garoppolo’s poor play in 49ers’ Week 1 loss

“I love my 49ers but Jimmy G, I don’t know what’s going on with you,” Simpson said. “I’ve just gotten over you missing [Emmanuel] Sanders for what should have been a Super Bowl-winning catch, but I watch you in the fourth quarter. Come on, you had a guy wide open in the end zone. You’re late with the pass. The last play of the game, the guy’s open on an out. You’re late with the pass.

“I’m watching these defenders celebrate like they did something, and they didn’t do nothing. It was you being late with the pass.”

“I remember Bill Walsh my last year with the Niners, his first year. He said something to me about a quarterback we had,” Simpson said, not naming the signal-caller. “He said ‘He’s great for three quarters, then he’s just good enough in the fourth quarter to get you beat.’ I’m just saying.”

49ers address racist messages sent to Budda Baker after George Kittle’s injury

The 49ers didn’t blame Baker for Kittle’s injury, but a 49ers “fan” did.

Someone sent Baker a string of threatening, racist messages that Baker posted to his Twitter account. “I’m all good with opposing fans talking trash,” Baker replied. “But this right here man… All you can do is pray for ppl like this.”

It begs the question: What’s wrong with people?

The offensive messages prompted the 49ers to release a statement on social media Tuesday in response.

“The San Francisco 49ers unequivocally denounce the racist messages sent to Budda Baker. The individual who sent the messages does not represent the 49ers or the Faithful. Per team policy, we are working to identify this person and will ban them from all 49ers games and events. Incidents like this demonstrate how much work remains to be done to address racism and hate in our society. We remain steadfast in our commitment to that work.”

49ers Must Trade for Odell Beckham Jr. Right Now

The story of Odell Beckham Jr. is a familiar one to any NFL fan. Star wide receiver, incredibly talented, and annually unhappy. No matter how gifted these guys are, they will bounce around the league until their declining talent makes them no longer worth the trouble. OBJ has spent one season and a game in Cleveland, and his tenure has been a complete failure. The Browns are building anew with rookie head coach Kevin Stefanski, and already the offensive woes have begun. The Browns got obliterated by the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 to the tune of 38-6. During this rout, OBJ was force-fed the ball 10 times and only accounted for 22 yards. For a first-year head coach, OBJ has already become a distraction.

Spider-Man Jimmy

He looked scared Week 1 against the Cardinals. He gave his heart to the game last year, and the game stripped him down to a mere three words, that ironically came after defeating Arizona.

Starting the season 0-1 isn’t ideal. But remember my whole superhero analogy with the spider bite? Peter Parker didn’t become Spider-Man overnight. He was bit, and then began to recognize his enhanced athleticism. Parker had to hone in on his new skills to develop a special wrist-mounted barrel that allowed him to truly live up to his full super hero potential.

Losing to the Cards was Garoppolo falling off the ceiling. Luckily for him, he’s about to create his wrist-mounted barrel. He has the power to stick to everything; he just needs the confidence to let go—even when the ceiling is higher than ever before.

Ziggy Ansah leaves workout with 49ers without a contract, per report

Defensive end Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah worked out for the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, but left the team’s facility in Santa Clara without a contract, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The NFL insider noted that the two sides were unable to agree on a deal.
