Running back James White did not participate in the New England Patriots’ game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night, for the most heartbreaking of reasons: his father, Tyrone, was killed in a traffic accident earlier that same day that also left his mother hospitalized in critical condition.
After coaches, teammates and other players from around the league expressed their condolences, White publicly shared his thoughts for the first time on Tuesday night: he took to Instagram for the first birthday of his son, Xzavier, to share an emotional message with him about his late father:
Happy 1st birthday Xzavier! I hope I can be as good of a father to you as my father was to my brother and I! I still can’t quite process everything that’s going on right now but when I look at you, you give me life! May you Rest In Peace Dad, we miss you much already.
