The Prez Sez: Browns Backers President’s Week 1 predictions vs. Ravens

The Presidents have spoken

Browns Backers Presidents just don’t simply look good and do all the work to organize their chapters. They know football, and more importantly, know Cleveland Browns football.

Each week, DBN invites five Browns Backers chapter Presidents to provide their insight with the outcome of Cleveland’s next opponent.

How is this for devotion to watching a live Browns game? The Browns Backers Down Under chapter in Sydney, Australia meets at Bangor Tavern which makes the best bacon and eggs. Why would you order bacon and eggs? Because at kickoff, the game begins at 5:00 a.m. local time on Monday morning.

If you are interested in joining a Browns Backers chapter, or want to see where the nearest chapter is located to your home, here is the official Backer Tracker link.

Here are this week’s Presidents and their predictions:

Delaware Valley Browns Backers

President: Michael Pagonakis
Wilmington, Delaware
Favorite player growing up: Gerald “The Ice Cube” McNeil
Favorite current player: Nick Chubb
Viewing location: Timothy’s Riverfront Grill
Best menu item: Wings

Week 1 Prediction: “Baltimore’s ground game with the addition of rookie J.K. Dobbins and the dynamic, unpredictable nature of Lamar Jackson will take advantage of the uncertainty at linebacker for the Browns. While I think Cleveland will also put up some gaudy numbers in the run game, the lack of familiarity in the passing game will prevent them from a 4th quarter comeback and they will drop their first of the season. Baltimore over Cleveland by a score of 31-24.”

Berea Browns Backers

President: Paul Latkovic
City: Berea, Ohio
Viewing location: Grindstone Tap House
Favorite menu item: Mini chicken tacos
Favorite past player: Bernie Kosar
Favorite current player: Nick Chubb

Week 1 Prediction: “I predict the Browns win by three by a score of 31-28. I feel Nick Chubb has a chip on his shoulder, and will be a work horse this season. With Myles Garrett back the ‘D’ will contain Lamar Jackson. Myles with end up with 3+ sacks. This is my prediction, and one more thing: Chubb runs for 100-yards plus.”

Browns Fans Down Under

President: Mick McGovern
Bangor, Australia
Favorite player: Nick Chubb
Viewing location: Bangor Tavern
Best menu item: Bacon and eggs

Week 1 Prediction: “As a Browns fan this hurts me to my core to predict a loss for Week 1, However, history is against us. The Browns have not won in 14 consecutive season openers and have only won in Week 1 of a season once since returning to the NFL. Whilst I think that the Browns have significantly upgraded their team over the off-season and I believe that the playoff drought could be over this season. The struggles all teams will be having getting ready with such a short training camp will be lessened for the Ravens as they will essentially be able to run it back with not many changes from last season. The Browns will be hard pressed to get to the same level of familiarity with some new players at significant positions trying to get on the same page. Also, with the recent injury to Mack Wilson, this should see the depth at our already weakened linebacker room tested to its max. Ravens 21, Browns 17”

Pensacola Browns Backers

Pensacola Browns Backers

President: Jim Graves
Pensacola, Florida
Viewing location: Twin Peaks
Best menu item: Wings
Favorite former player: Bernie Kosar
Favorite current player: Baker Mayfield

Week 1 Prediction: “I’m going to start off the season on a high note and predict the Browns will win over the Ravens by a score of 28 to 24. I feel the Ravens will be a little hung over after their incredible season last year. I also think they will take us a little lightly after the dismal season we had. I think with the new coach and new scheme Baker Mayfield will rebound from last year in a big way.”

Browns Backers of Baltimore City

President: Adam Rubin
Baltimore, Maryland
Favorite former player: Brian Sipe
Favorite current player: Nick Chubb
Viewing location: Nobles Bar & Grill

Week 1 Prediction: “I have to say this is very difficult for me to pick. My heart will always be to see the Browns succeed but I believe that the Ravens will squeak this one out by a score of 30 to 28. I believe that Baltimore will not let the Browns come into their stadium for the second year in a row and take them out. I think the Browns will take advantage of the run game that was successful in Baltimore last year to stay close, but Baltimore has just a few less changes than we went through with players, coaches, and terminology. Without the preseason we will still be working on learning too much.”
