Who bares the brunt of the struggles on offense this week for the Cowboys?
The Dallas Cowboys season-opener had so much hype around this offense with new head coach Mike McCarthy at the helm, but it failed to live up to the proverbial hype. Team 40 Burger ending up falling to the Los Angeles Rams 20-17, failing to even score 20 points. One could say that the losses of center Travis Frederick and right tackle La’el Collins, and even tight end Blake Jawrin, may have led to this but there was a lot more to it than that.
The Cowboys once again spent most of their drives running on first down, which lead to more third and long situations for Dak Prescott. The weakened offensive line then had to deal with the pass rush of Aaron Donald and Leonard Floyd. You can also look at Prescott and see that he was a little off in the game and wasn’t leading his receivers like he had been last season. You could also say it was because the running game, while effective, didn’t create any huge plays.
You also have the decision to go for it on fourth down instead of kicking a field goal to tie the game in the fourth quarter. There are a lot of ways you can look at this and point the finger at certain players or coaches. So if you had to choose, who’s to blame for the offensive output against the Rams who would it be?
