Chicago Bears waive Jonathan Anderson from IR, Jonathon Mincy from practice squad

Some minor adjustments have been made to the roster, leaving a spot open on the team’s practice squad.

In what has otherwise been a relatively quiet two days, the Chicago Bears announced a pair of transactions. The first move was veteran linebacker Jonathan Anderson being released from their injured reserve list, and ultimately from their roster. The news was initially reported by NFL trade rumors.

Then, earlier today, the Bears also announced that defensive back Jonathon Mincy has been released from their practice squad. This was revealed by their public relations account on Twitter.

Anderson has been in Chicago since 2015, when he was signed as an undrafted free agent out of TCU. He recorded 3 starts that season, and a fair amount of snaps at inside linebacker from 2016-2017. His totals stand at 53 combined tackles, 2 passes defended, and an interception.

Mincy, on the other hand, did not see any live action while with the Bears. The former Auburn Tiger first signed with the Atlanta Falcons in 2016 as an undrafted free agent, before being released and eventually playing in the Canadian Football League with the Montreal Alouettes. He was then signed by the Bears in January of 2018 on a reserve/futures contract.

The later transaction leaves one spot remaining on the Bears’ practice squad.
