Earl Thomas back at practice

https://ift.tt/2OOPvOs

Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas appears to have returned to practice with the team, per The Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta. Condotta notes that on Saturday, “every player” was present at practice, implying that Thomas was among them and with no corresponding transactions, perhaps he could start on Sunday against his real favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Things appeared to get dicey again between the Seahawks and Thomas this week, with Thomas being absent from practice for an unspecified personal issue. Pete Carroll could not confirm if Thomas would be available to play against the Cowboys, with trade speculation ramping up again as it did all offseason; Thomas wants a new contract or to be traded to a team that will give him a new contract, but he’s reported back to Seattle so that he didn’t miss any of those massive game checks. This week it appeared he was in fact willing to miss a check, but perhaps it was just a temporary hiccup or an actual personal matter unrelated to football.

If the Seahawks are going to avoid 0-3, it would seem that Thomas is a vital piece to beating Dallas this week. Maybe he saw that as leverage. Maybe it was nothing. Maybe we will see him tomorrow.

Maybe we won’t. He appears to have been there today, however.
