Fantasy Football Week 3: Which Eagles Should I Start?

JMatt JMatt JMatt JMatt

Earlier in the week we looked at some of the best start and sit options throughout the NFL, but in preparation of the Eagles week 3 match up against Indy, lets take a more Eagles-centric look at some of your fantasy options:

Carson Wentz: Start

FINALLY our boy is back. Carson is slightly under projected by most experts and in my opinion has the upside that makes him a must start candidate. (QB1/QB2)

Nelson Agholor: Start

Nelson has been targeted 22 times and made 16 catches for 121 yards and 1 TD. He has sneaked his way into must start territory, especially while Alshon Jeffery is injured. (WR2)

Jordan Matthews: Sit

No. (WR8)

Zach Ertz: Start

With just 14.2 points through the first two games, Fantasy Managers who drafted Ertz are surely not feeling great about him. Rest assured, that with the return of his boy, Carson, at quarterback, Ertz’s ceiling has risen substantially. (TE1)

Dallas Goedert: Sit

A preseason darling, Goedert has hardly sniffed any playing time when it counts so far this year. After being out targeted by Josh Perkins in week 2, its safe to avoid Goedert until further notice. (TE4)

Josh Perkins: Sit

Out of no where Perkins caught 4 passes for 57 yards last week. Its hard to imagine his role will increase, even to this level, consistently upon the return of Carson Wentz. (TE5)

Wendell Smallwood: Sit

Hard to believe that we are in a world where Wendell Smallwood is the top fantasy running back on the Eagles. Thing is, even in that world, I probably wouldn’t start him. (RB6)

Josh Adams: Sit

No. No. No. No. No. (RB7)

Jake Elliott: Sit

Elliott has just one FG through two games. Until he is used a little more frequently its probably safe to look elsewhere for a better option. (K1/K2)

Defense & Special Teams: Start

There are reasons to avoid this unit, but their play making ability offers too much of an upside for me to pass on. (DST1)

Injury Report

Alshon Jeffery: Questionable

Even if Jeffery gets cleared before game time (seems unlikely), its probably safe to avoid him this week.

Jay Ajayi: Out

Darren Sproles: Out

Corey Clement: Questionable

Although listed as Questionable, it appears that Clement is set to play Sunday. Considering the other options in the backfield, Clement should get enough carries to be a good fantasy play.
