Injury report: Veldheer has been cleared from concussion protocol and the Ravens defense is banged up

Here is your Friday Injury report.

The Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s matchup between the two teams. The Ravens enter the game banged up on the defensive side of the ball while the Broncos received some good news on the injury front.

After practice, Head Coach Vance Joseph told reporters that right tackle Jared Veldheer has been cleared from the concussion protocol and is “ready to go” for Sunday’s game.

“He’s cleared. He’s totally cleared through the protocol, so he’s ready to go. Obviously, it’s two more days, so we’ll have to see.”

Hopefully, the symptoms don’t act up again in a few days, but it seems like Veldheer is good to go barring any unforeseen circumstances happening.

The other good news is that linebacker Brandon Marshall returned to practice on a limited basis today after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday with a knee injury. This is a positive sign for him, but he is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.

Also listed as questionable for Sunday’s game is cornerback Adam “Pac Man” Jones. He did not practice all week but has not been ruled out for Sunday’s game. After practice, Head Coach Vance Joseph said while Veldheer, Marshall, and Jones did not practice fully all week, they can still play Sunday.

“Three of these guys are veteran players, so to play without practice for Adam or even ‘B-Marsh’ (Marshall), I’m OK with that. Experienced football players, they know our system, so obviously their health is most important. It’s only Week 3, so we’re being smart with our guys so we don’t lose these guys for long term. We’re just being smart. If they’re ready to go on Sunday, we’ll see.”

Safety Dymonte Thomas was listed as a DNP on Friday with an abdomen injury and could be in danger of missing Sunday’s game.

As for the Ravens, they enter this game pretty banged up on the defensive side of the ball. After practicing on a limited basis on Thursday, linebacker C.J. Mosley was a DNP on Friday and is likely a game-time decision at best for the game on Sunday.

Another big injury to keep an eye on is the one to defensive lineman, Michael Pierce. He did not practice all week and is listed as questionable. Like Mosley, he’s likely at best a game-time decision on Sunday and likely will not be 100% even if he does play. This is a big boost for the Broncos offense.

A late addition to the Ravens injury report was reserve cornerback, Anthony Averett. This leaves the Ravens secondary a bit banged up entering Sunday’s game.

Tackle Ronnie Stanley and linebacker Matthew Judon are listed as questionable but put in a full practice on Friday and should be good to go for Sunday’s game. Defensive lineman Willie Henry and rookie tight end Hayden Hurst have been already ruled out for Sunday’s game.

The two main injuries to watch here are to C.J. Mosley and Michael Pierce. If neither is able to go, it would really weaken the middle of the Ravens defense that is already banged up.

Here is your entire Friday injury report for the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens.
