The New York Jets lost on Thursday Night Football to the Cleveland Browns to fall to 1-2 on the season, and their slide in the weekly power rankings reflects their losing record.
Jets: 26 (last week: 23)
22. Jets (last week: 23)
They’re on pace to finally be rested after opening with three games in 11 days. But will recharge be enough against salty Jags in Week 4?
28. New York Jets (1-2) ( last week: 23)
The Browns, Bills and Cardinals must take note: There are going to be ups and downs for rookie QBs. It’s just part of the deal. You live with it. Sam Darnold has followed a good outing in his first game with two straight poor performances. He’s probably due for another good showing.
27. New York Jets (last week 26)
The Jets rank last in the NFL with eight giveaways (at least two in each game). Sam Darnold has the highest interception rate at 5.4 percent this season.
29. New York Jets (last week 25)
The blowout win in Detroit is falling further and further in the rearview. While the defense might have been riddled by the Browns’ head-banded Boy Wonder, the Jets’ offense better resembled a biplane in the second half last Thursday night. Six drives resulted in a punt, fumble, punt, field goal, interception, interception. Whereas Sam Darnold was looking like Maverick after Week 1, he’s morphed into Slider the last two weeks. That was the guy in “Top Gun” who had perfect hair but added little to the winning scenes. He was in “Roxanne,” though. Tell me one of you out there saw that movie.
With the obvious proviso that power rankings are stupid, unless they praise the Jets, in which case they’re awesome, what do you think? Where should the Jets rank in the power rankings?
