NFL Week 4 Primer: Bengals (2-1) at Falcons (1-2)

The Bengals will have to try and pick up the pieces after their first loss of the season as they travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons.

The Bengals will have a chance to get back on track with a road game against the Falcons. Both are teams in need of a win after rough losses. The Bengals still lead the AFC North, but the Ravens have the same record, and the Steelers and Browns are both 1-1-1, which means they are breathing down Cincinnati’s neck as well.

The Bengals are hoping they can get back to their winning ways this week.

Here is everything you need to know for when the Bengals visit the Falcons:

TV Broadcast: The game will air on CBS-TV. In the Bengals’ home region, it will be carried by WKRC-TV (Ch. 12) in Cincinnati, WHIO-TV (Ch. 7) in Dayton and on WKYT-TV (Ch. 27) in Lexington. Broadcasters are Greg Gumbel (play-by-play), Trent Green (analyst), Bruce Arians (analyst) and Melanie Collins (sideline reporter).

Radio Broadcast: The game will air on the Bengals Radio Network, led by Cincinnati flagship stations WCKY-AM (ESPN 1530; all sports) and WEBN-FM (102.7). Broadcasters are Dan Hoard (play-by-play) and Dave Lapham (analyst). The first half of the game also will be aired by WLW-AM (700), until the station breaks away to broadcast the Cincinnati Reds’ season finale. Bengals Notes

  • Andy Dalton passed for 352 yards in Week 3. He passed for 252 yards with a touchdown and no interception for a 116.6 rating in the last meeting. Dalton has a passer rating over 90 in three of his five career starts against the NFC South. He has over a 100 rating in two of the past three games. He also ties for third in the NFL with eight passing touchdowns.
  • Giovani Bernard had 86 scrimmage yards (61 rushing and 25 receiving) and a rushing touchdown last week. He had a career-high 169 scrimmage yards (90 rushing and 79 receiving) and a rushing touchdown in his last meeting with the Falcons. Bernard aims for his fourth game with a rushing touchdown in a row against the NFC.
  • A.J. Green has 44 catches (6.3 per game) for 533 yards and two touchdowns in his past seven games against the NFC. He is tied for the NFL lead with four touchdown catches. Since entering league in 2011, Green is one of two receivers in the NFL (Antonio Brown) with over 550 catches (572), 8,000 receiving yards (8,432) and 60 touchdown catches (61). Tyler Boyd has 223 receiving yards (111.5 per game) and two touchdowns in the past two games. He aims for his third game in a row with a touchdown. C.J. Uzomah had a touchdown catch last week. Tyler Eifert has seven touchdown catches in his past seven games against the NFC.
  • Nick Vigil led the team with a career-high 12 tackles last week. He has 32 tackles (10.7 per game) in the past three games. Vigil has 19 tackles (9.5 per game) in his past two games against the NFC. Carlos Dunlap had a sack and forced fumble in Week 3. He aims for his third in row against the NFC with a sack. He had a sack in last meeting with the Falcons. Geno Atkins has six sacks in his past seven games on the road against the NFC. He has three sacks in his past three games. That ties him for second among NFL defensive tackles with three sacks. William Jackson had a tackle for a loss last week.

Falcons Notes

  • Matt Ryan passed for 374 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions for a 148.1 rating last week, his first-career game with five touchdown passes. He had 299 passing yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions for a 118.1 passer rating in the last home meeting with the Bengals (10/24/10). In his past three at home, he has 963 passing yards (321 per game) with eight touchdowns and only one interception with a 119.5 passer rating.
  • Running back Tevin Coleman had a touchdown catch in Week 3. Running back Devonta Freeman has 554 scrimmage yards (92.3 per game) and six rushing touchdowns in his past six games at home against the AFC.
  • Wide receiver Julio Jones had seven receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown in his last meeting with Cincinnati. He has 34 catches for 549 yards (109.8 per game) in his last five games at home against the AFC. Rookie wide receiver Calvin Ridley had seven catches for 146 yards and three touchdowns in Week 3. He became the first Falcons rookie with three receiving touchdowns in a single game and first Atlanta player since 2006 (Tight End Alge Crumpler) to accomplish the feat. Wide receiver Mohamed Sanu had a receiving touchdown last week. He had 1,793 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in four seasons with Cincinnati. (2012-15).
  • Defensive end Takkarist McKinley aims for his third game in a row with sack. Linebacker Vic Beasley Jr. had a sack last week. He has 8.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in his past seven games against the AFC. Beasley has three sacks and two forced fumbles in his past three games at home against the AFC. Linebacker Duke Riley led the team with a career-high 12 tackles in Week 3. He aims for his third in a row with over nine tackles. Corner back Brian Poole has two sacks and two passes defended in his past three games. Corner back Robert Alford has 58 passes defended since 2015, the most in the NFL. He has an interception and six passes defended in his past three home games.
