Patriots-Lions close out the day with Sunday Night Football

We’re back for the third week of Sunday Night Football to close out the day. The Detroit Lions host the New England Patriots, with kickoff set for 5:20 p.m. PT on NBC. Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth are calling the game from the booth, and Michele Tafoya is handling sideline duties.

This game brings us another Bill Belichick coaching reunion. The Lions hired Matt Patricia as their head coach, and once again we get the student vs. the teacher. Belichick has had a lot of success against his former coaches, going 15-8 against them, and 12-4 against former Patriots assistants.

The Patriots are a 6.5-point favorite, although the line did climb up to a touchdown at one point, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark. The betting public is heavily on the Patriots in this one, and the fact that it is under a touchdown has sharp money on it as well. I’m going with Belichick’s success and the Lions atrocious defense in picking the Patriots to cover.
