No corresponding roster move has been mention of yet. Veteran RB Mike Gillislee has averaged only 2.9 yards, and Johnathan Williams has a total of three rushes for no gain.
On 9-2-18 the Saints signed Washington to their practice squad. Dwayne Washington was originally drafted in the 7th round by the Detroit Lions. During his college career Washington had 266 rushes for 1311 yards, averaging 5.8 yards per carry and 17 TDs. He also had 44 receptions averaging 10 yards per, and 4 TDs.
With the Lions, Dwayne had 265 rushing yards in his 2106 rookie season with 1 TD. In 2017 he rushed 20 times for 44 yards. The Lions released him 9-1-18. Will Dwayne be an upgrade against the Giants we need? He also could be used in the kick return game.
Story update: The Saints have released Johnathan Williams clearing up the roster spot.
