Seahawks sign Branden Jackson following injury to Dion Jordan

The Seattle Seahawks brought Branden Jackson back to the 53-man roster on Tuesday, having previously been on the practice squad. In the process, they’ve waived TE Darrell Daniels, leaving Seattle with Will Dissly and Nick Vannett as the only TEs on the roster, as Ed Dickson won’t be able to come off the Non-Football Injury list for another three weeks.

You might be wondering why Jackson has been given the call-up. Well unfortunately it looks like the oft-injured Dion Jordan is hurt again.

Head coach Pete Carroll said on Monday that the severity of the injury was unknown, so it was a wait-and-see situation. One would assume that it’s severe enough for Jackson to be signed, whether Jordan plays this weekend or not.

Jackson played in 12 games for the Seahawks last season, recording a 0.5 sack against the San Francisco 49ers. He had made the initial 53-man roster on cutdown day for 2018, but was ultimately waived for DB Simeon Thomas, and eventually signed to the practice squad. Now it’s Thomas who is on the practice squad, while Jackson is on the active roster to boost the defensive line depth for the Seahawks, as they prepare for their Week 4 road game at the Arizona Cardinals.
