The 5 O’Clock Club: What’s your “dream scenario” for 2018?

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere…

The 5 o’clock club is published Wednesday to Saturday during the season, and aims to provide a forum for reader-driven discussion at a time of day when there isn’t much NFL news being published. Feel free to introduce topics that interest you in the comments below.

How 'bout dem Browns, hey?! 1-1-1 and finally off the schneid!

For the Redskins, losing to the Colts on Sunday — especially the way it happened — was nightmarish. Given how negative this week has been, I thought I’d try to generate a little positive energy today in honor of Baker Mayfield and Cleveland's mighty victory over Sam Darnold's J-E-T-S, Jets.

It’s only Week 3, and the Redskins have only one loss, with 14 more chances to improve the season. Let's consider the best possible outcome.

Imagine if the season does “a 180” following the Colts loss, and starting now, everything goes exactly right from here to the end of the season; in other words, if the Redskins had the dream scenario, what would it look like?

Here’s mine, paying back a lot of debts, all in five weeks:

Week 17 - Redskins beat the Eagles at home in a shutout, securing the NFC East title, and knocking the Eagles out of the playoffs. Byron Marshall comes off IR and returns the opening kickoff 102 yards to give the Redskins the lead 12 seconds into the 1st quarter. The 'Skins defense sacks Carson Wentz 6 times and scores twice -- once on a pick-6 and once in a scoop and score fumble recovery.

Playoffs - Wildcard round - Redskins beat the Seahawks at FedEx Field by a score of 48 - 3. Paul Richardson leads all receivers with 8 receptions for 162 yards and a pair of TDs.

Playoffs - Divisional round - Redskins beat the Packers at FedEx Field by a score of 27 - 24 with the winning score coming in a 14-play, 6 minutes click eating drive, with the winning TD coming with 4 seconds remaining in the game as Aaron Rodgers watches impotently from the sideline.

Playoffs - Conference Championship - Redskins play the Vikings, intercepting Cousins 3 times and getting a strip sack. Redskins win 35 - 9, with the Vikings kicking 3 field goals. AD rushes for 187 yards and scores 3 TDs against the team that drafted him, then let him go.

Superbowl - Alex Smith faces his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs, led by Pat Mahomes. Redskins sack Mahomes 7 times, winning 45 - 10. Smith Houston the Lombardi and laughs.
