Expect the Bills rookie to rest on the shelf for a while.
The Buffalo Bills kicked off a week of practice ahead of a game with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday, with newly-promoted quarterback Derek Anderson under center. Rookie starter Josh Allen was a non-participant with his elbow injury, his arm wrapped in a thick brace or cast. The rookie is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks to rehab his arm.
In their daily injury report, the Bills listed two starters as limited participants - a good sign, early in the week, for their availability on Sunday. Left guard Vladimir Ducasse (knee), who exited last Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, was able to practice on Wednesday. Defensive end Trent Murphy (ankle) was also a limited participant, after he missed a few snaps with a rolled ankle against Houston.
The other noteworthy injury is running back and special teams captain Taiwan Jones (neck), whom Sean McDermott called “week-to-week” on Monday. Jones did not practice on Wednesday, and given the initial prognosis and the location of his injury, it would be surprising to see him play on Sunday.
