ESPN ranks offensive tackle duo near bottom of the league

Welp.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are struggling to find good help at the tackle position. Cam Robinson went down for the season at left tackle. Then his backup Josh Wells was injured. Then they signed Ereck Flowers and now it’s between him and Josh Walker for next man up.

And that’s just the left tackle position — Jermey Parnell has been healthy, but he hasn’t played as well as fans hoped.

That’s led to ESPN ranking the Jaguars in the bottom third of the league in terms of pass protecting tackle duos.

26. Jacksonville Jaguars

Left tackle: Josh Walker (70 percent)

Right tackle: Jermey Parnell (82 percent)

Even if the Jags decide to insert new addition Ereck Flowers into the lineup, he isn’t likely to help much. The former first-round pick had a PBWR of 71 percent with the Giants this season and a 74 percent in 2017. Then again, after a couple of injuries at left tackle, the Jaguars don’t have a ton of talent with which to work.

I can’t really fault ESPN for this either. Jaguars quarterbacks have been under pretty heavy duress this season. While much of the blame lies in offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett going with a pass-at-all-costs approach from the second quarter, the sack numbers have been what they are, but the pressures have been mounting.

What do you think of how our tackles are pass protecting? Do they deserve to be near the bottom of the league or should they be ranked higher? Let us know in the comments below!
