Giants’ tight ends Evan Engram, Rhett Ellison on track to play vs. Falcons

Giants can use all the help they can get

The New York Giants’ offense could get a boost Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons as it appears that tight ends Evan Engram (MCL sprain) and Rhett Ellison (foot) are on track to play.

“They actually practiced today, so we are hopeful they’ll be back and ready to roll on Monday,” coach Pat Shurmur said on Tuesday.

Engram has been out since suffering his injury Week 3 against the Houston Texans. The 2017 first-round pick gives the Giants a pass-catching tight end with speed and skills no other tight end on the roster has.

Engram practiced last Tuesday in hopes of playing against the Philadelphia Eagles, but admitted this week that it didn’t go well.

“Just wasn’t ready, just wasn’t ready,” Engram said on Tuesday. “That practice, just wasn’t able to be myself.”

He was, though, happy after practice this Tuesday.

“I feel really good,” Engram said.” Today was a really good day. Went out there and made sure I got warm and stuff and was running around and going as fast as I can go and making all the cuts and doing everything I can do to block, so it felt good. Still got a lot of time, good amount of days until game time, so very probable and I feel really good about going into and the rest of this week.”
