Jaguars vs. Eagles: Week 8 live blog!

Follow along all afternoon for coverage and our live commentary before and during the game as the Jaguars take on the Philadelphia Eagles for Week 8 of the 2018 season. Feel free to leave commentary, and stay with us following the game for post-game recaps.

The Jaguars cap off an exciting Revenue Week, with a rare Sunday morning match up against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, from Wembley Stadium in London, England. Follow along with us all day long as we await to watch what new ways Blake Bortles can turn the ball over today!

Live Blog:

12:25 PM: The Jaguars get to midfield and go for it on 4th & 2, but Bortles rushes the pass and throws the ball to Casper the Friendly Ghost. Eagles takeover, and that will do it.

12:15 PM: After the Jaguar appeared to force a fumble but was overturned, the defense forces a three and out and Bortles and the offense will get five minutes to go, down 6.

12:07 PM: The Jaguars answer with a drive of their own that includes a 37 yard catch and run from TJ Yeldon, but on 3rd & goal Chark lets the ball tip off his fingers and is unable to corral it in for a touchdown. Lambo makes another field goal, and the Jags cut the lead to 6, with 7 minutes left in the game. Eagles 24-18.

11:57 AM: Philadelphia slashes the defense through the air with the rookies in the secondary getting absolutely torched on three straight plays. The defensive line is having trouble getting home since the first half, a reoccurring theme this year. Wentz his Ertz in the end zone over rookie Tre Herndon in coverage, for the Eagles touchdown. Eagles 24-15.

11:48 AM: The Jaguars drive from midfield but have to settle for another Josh Lambo field goal. DJ Chark slips while turning the corner on a completed 2nd down play during the drive, costing the Jags a likely touchdown to take the lead. 17-15 Eagles, early 4th quarter.

11:36 AM: Defense forces a three and out, as Myles Jack gets home on a blitz on third down. On the injury front, Quenton Meeks is out with a knee injury. Jags return the punt to midfield on a big run by Westbrook.

11:29 AM: Hey look, the Jaguars score a TOUCHDOWN! Blake moves the ball relatively well through the air on the drive, including good yardage from David Grinnage and Yeldon, and caps the drive with a 3rd down pass to Dede Westbrook for about a 20 yard touchdown. Jag fail on the two point attempt, Eagles lead 17-12 in the 3rd quarter.

11:18 AM: The Eagles go 95 yards, yes, 95 yards mostly through the air against a Jaguars defense that no team fears any longer and scores on a 28 yard touchdown pass to some running back you never heard of. 17-6 Eagles and we can pretty much pronounce the body dead here.

11:07 AM: Jaguars opening drive of the first half gets going with an actual decent pass from Bortles to Donte Moncrief for 15 yards, but stalls out shortly after with a near sack on 3rd down. The Jaguars ran four straight passes for some reason. Eagles take over at their 5, following the punt.

10:45 AM: Wentz connects with rookie tight end Dallas Goedert for a 30 yard touchdown. Eagles will go into halftime with a 10-6 lead, turnovers kill.

10:38 AM: Bortles completes a pass on 2nd down to Keelan Cole, who fumbles after what would’ve been a good pick up for a first down. Malcolm Jenkins recovers for the Eagles, who take over at midfield with three times out and a little over a minute in the half. Cole has been awful since Week 2.

10:36 AM: The Jaguars force their first three and out, as Meeks comes up with another near interception on a good pass break up to force the punt. Jags take over at their 40 with a minute and half left.

10:26 AM: Jacksonville gets the ball moving again, as Bortles hits DJ Chark for a 20 yard gain and gets around 17 yards on 3rd & 22 following a sack and delay of game on Bortles. It’s just enough yardage to try a 57 yard field goal and Lambo......nails it! Best player on the team this year, makes it 6-3 Jags, as we near the two minute warning in the first half.

10:17 AM: Philly gets the ball into the red zone, thanks in part to a dropped interception from rookie corner Quenton Meeks which gave Went and company new life to pass the ball down the field in strikes to Zack Ertz and Alshon Jeffrey. They get into down and goal territory, until Calais Campbell sacks Wentz on 3rd & goal. Eagles field goal makes it a 3-3 game. On the injury front, Telvin Smith has left the game with a shoulder and a bruised ego.

10:05 AM: The Jags ensuing drive off the interception goes nowhere, as Bortles is sacked on 3rd down by Chris Long, and are forced to punt.

10:00 AM: The Eagles drive into Jags territory, until Wentz is picked off in then end zone by Jalen Ramsey. 2.0 gets his first pick of the season, and the Jags defense forces their second turnover in as many Eagle drives. Big statement being made by the defense currently.

9:50 AM: The Jaguars take the first possession on the turnover and use Bortles’ legs to take the ball into Eagles territory, before Carlos Hyde is stuffed short on 3rd & 1. Josh Lambo hits a 50 yard field goal, and the Jags have their first lead since the Jets game three weeks ago. 3-0 Jags.

9:35 AM: The Jaguars won the toss, and elected to defer. So we already win by being spared watching the offense for at least a few more minutes.

9:42 AM: Marcel Dareus gets a sack/strip on Wentz and the fumble is recovered by Telvin Smith, who takes it deep into Eagles territory. A hold on Harrision will bring the return back a bit, but the Jags finally get a big play and turnover from the defense after weeks of not producing one in meaningful playing time.

9:20 AM: Speaking of Fournette, here’s the latest.

9:15 AM: The Jaguars inactives include cornerback AJ Bouye who did not make the trip, and DJ Hayden who did make the trip and was part of the group arrested Friday night in London over a club bar tab dispute. The other three players, Barry Church, Rodney Harrison, and Jarrod Wilson are all active, most likely because that’s literally all the safeties besides Cody Davis. Other inactives include Leonard Fournette, Duane Smoot, Eli Ankou, and no one else relevant.

9:06 AM: Good morning, the Jaguars play for their season today, and hope to enter their bye week at .500, which after the last three weeks would be a miracle in of itself. Will it happen? Sure, Jan.
