We knew that Jon Gruden was pretty concerned about the injury suffered by Marshawn Lynch, which has led him to be questionable on several injury reports this season. But today it was confirmed that this may be a long-term injury for the Raiders star running back.
Sources: #Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch is out at least a month because of a groin injury. Lynch had his MRI this week. Oakland is on a bye, but the bad news continues.

Lynch’s hard running has been one of the very few bright spots for the Raiders this season, but it remains to be seen if he will even return this year or ever again. A groin injury is nothing to mess with, especially for someone who runs with the level of violence Lynch does.
For now, we should expect Doug Martin to get the bulk of the carries for Oakland going forward, with Jalen Richard continuing his pass-catching role. Don’t be surprised to see the Raiders make a move and add another running back as well. Hopefully, the injury to Lynch won’t linger for too long, but for now the Raiders are woefully thin at running back, which looked like their deepest position coming into the regular season- so much so that they stashed Chris Warren on IR for next year.
When and if the Raiders announce a more definite timetable for Lynch’s return or add another back, you’ll read about it here.
