Who will be sitting out this evening?
We’re less than ninety minutes from kickoff in the Twin Cities, folks, and the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints have both released their inactive lists leading up to tonight’s contest. Let’s take a look at who will be sitting this one out for both sides, starting with the visiting team.
New Orleans Saints
- OL Jermon Bushrod
- OL Will Clapp
- CB Ken Crawley
- DB J.T. Gray
- OL Chaz Green
- DE Trey Hendrickson
- DL Mitchell Loewen
Bushrod not starting comes as a bit of a surprise. He was listed on the team’s injury report (one of only two players, along with Loewen), but was a full participant on Friday and was listed as “Not Injury Related.” But, his absence should help the Vikings’ defense, that’s for sure.
Human target Ken Crawley is also out, meaning that the Saints will be starting Eli Apple, who they acquired earlier this week, at corner.
And now, on to the home team.
Minnesota Vikings
- LB Anthony Barr
- OL Tom Compton
- RB Dalvin Cook
- OT Riley Reiff
- CB Xavier Rhodes
- S Andrew Sendejo
- QB Kyle Sloter
Contrary to what was reported earlier, cornerback Xavier Rhodes is inactive for this one. Rookie cornerback Holton Hill will get his first NFL start in Rhodes’ place. Linebacker Eric Wilson is also getting his first start in place of Anthony Barr.
However, defensive end Everson Griffen is active for the first time since Week 3, so that’s good, at least. Unfortunately, Rhodes’ absence means that the Vikings have six starters down for tonight’s contest.
Those are your inactives for tonight, ladies and gentlemen. The Open Thread for the first quarter of play will be along shortly.
