Packers at Rams: Week 8 staff predictions

The LA Rams look to make it eight straight as they return home to take on the Packers this Sunday

The Los Angeles Rams (7-0) are heading back home after a three game road stretch. They’ll look to remain undefeated against the Green Bay Packers (3-2-1) in Week 8.

Can the Rams make it eight straight to start the year, or will an up-and-down Packers squad deal them their first loss of the season? The Turf Show Times staff make their predictions...

Eddie Perez (@iAmEddieP_)

This week will actually be tough. Rams, as talented as they may be, have had weak links defense, especially a suspect secondary as of recent. A QB like Aaron Rodgers can pick & tear those holes wide open (eggplant emoji).

All good must come to an end right? I see my Rams losing out in a close one.

Prediction: Packers win, 38-31

YA JUST CAN’T STOP THE GURLEY MAN, CAN YA?

Prediction: Rams win, 41-33

Similarly to when the Badgers make the Rose Bowl, the Coliseum will be flooded with cheese this Sunday. I know because if I sold my ticket I could get five times face value on Stubhub, but I’m not selling. This Sunday, the The Greatest Show On Surf will return to the form that they displayed in the Vikings game, and I wanna be there to watch all my friends from Wiscaahnsun drown their sorrows in warm Schlitzes.

Prediction: Rams win, 45-24

The Rams get a home game against perhaps the most talented quarterback in our era, Aaron Rodgers. In a battle of Cal QB’s, Jared Goff will do his best to outplay the former MVP and Super Bowl Champion. The Rams defense looks to build off their dominating performance in San Francisco against a much more talented team while RB Todd Gurley looks to feast on the less-than-stellar Green Bay defense.

In a very close battle with multiple lead changes, Green Bay just eeks out with a victory with some late Rodgers magic. Rams lose in a heartbreaker.

Prediction: Packers win, 35-31

Brennan Smith (@BrennanJSmith)

After the Rams defense and specifically Aaron Donald wrecked the 49ers offensive game plan, the defensive front seven should have similar success against a hobbled Aaron Rodgers and the Packers’ mediocre offensive line. But, if he gets time in the pocket, he could pick apart a still banged up Rams secondary. A huge part of this game will binge on how well Marcus Peters covers Davante Adams. On the flip side, I’m predicting a big game from Brandin Cooks and another touchdown or two from Todd Gurley.

Prediction: Rams win, 35-31

Sosa Kremenjas (@QBsMVP)

The Rams defense will need to continue their strong play this week with the GOAT (Aaron Rodgers) coming to town. Expect the Packers to throw early and often. The Rams offense should have a field day as they’ve been relatively unstoppable thus far. I expect the Rams to win a close game and remain unbeaten.

Prediction: Rams win, 35-31

The Rams are 7-0 and I’ve learned my lesson in picking against them when they beat the Vikings, so with that said... The LA Goff’s will defeat the Green Bay Arod’s 34-31 this week when Nick Williams and Josh Reynolds each have 2 TD’s!

Prediction: Rams win, 34-31

One thing I don’t like about this matchup is that the Green Bay Packers’ second leading receiver is Jimmy Graham, a big tight end that can exploit a flaw in our defense that the Oakland Raiders were able to take advantage of with Jared Cook way back in week one. It’s fortunate that the Packers have a shaky defense, which tells me that this may be a high-scoring contest that will most likely be decided by how many touchdowns Todd Gurley can fit in by the final whistle.

Prediction: Rams win, 42-35

Sean Wilkinson (@Papa_Lurch)

The combination of the Rams explosive offense and Aaron Rodgers’ ability to keep most games within reach is going to make this one hell of a game to watch. In our preseason predictions, I had this as the final of 3 losses for the Rams in 2018. I’m tempted to stick with that, but the Rams are just too hot right now to justify pick against.

Prediction: Rams win, 31-27

We’re eatin’ good in 2018. And with Green Bay in town this weekend, that can only mean one thing...flaming cheese saganaki is on the menu.

Prediction: Rams win, 41-30

It’s weird, right? A couple weeks ago, a depleted 49ers squad were giving the Packers all they could handle; pushing them late in the 4th quarter in what turned out to be a three point game. So it seems completely logical that the Rams would make light work of Green Bay in Week 8. And at the same time, it’s hard to bet against Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers, coming off their bye, have had ample time to prepare, and they’ve also had time to heal. That said, I wasn’t predicting the Packers to best the Rams prior to the season, and I won’t be doing it now. I suspect the Rams’ defensive line frustrates Rodgers on Sunday, and the Rams’ offense, as usual, does what they do.

Fun fact: the Packers have only scored 30 or more points once this season — in the aforementioned game against the lowly 49ers. The Rams have scored 30+ in 6 out of their first 7 games.

Prediction: 34-20
