Patriots vs Bears Friday injury report: Marcus Cannon out, Rob Gronkowski now also dealing with back issue

The Patriots’ final practice report of the week is out.

The New England Patriots and Chicago Bears released their final injury reports of the week today, and only one of the two teams’ players will not be able to participate in Sunday’s game. Everybody else – including a certain star pass rusher – is theoretically still available to play. Let’s take a look at the two lists.

OUT

Patriots: OT Marcus Cannon (concussion; did not participate)

After Marcus Cannon missed all three practices this week, the team already declared him out for Sunday’s contest due to the concussion he suffered versus the Kansas City Chiefs. In his place, veteran backup LaAdrian Waddle will see the start at right tackle.

DOUBTFUL

Bears: DB Marcus Cooper Sr. (hamstring; limited participation)

After missing the last three games due to a hamstring issue, backup defensive back and special teamer Marcus Cooper returned to the field yesterday. However, he is still listed as doubtful to play against New England.

QUESTIONABLE

Patriots: DT Malcom Brown (knee; limited participation), WR Julian Edelman (heel; limited participation), WR Josh Gordon (hamstring; limited participation), DE Geneo Grissom (ankle; limited participation), TE Rob Gronkowski (ankle/back; limited participation), TE Jacob Hollister (hamstring; limited participation), RB Sony Michel (knee; limited participation), CB Eric Rowe (groin; limited participation), DE John Simon (shoulder; limited participation), DE Deatrich Wise Jr. (ankle/knee; limited participation)

Bears: DB Bryce Callahan (ankle; did not participate), LB Khalil Mack (ankle; limited participation), WR Allen Robinson II (groin; limited participation)

The Patriots’ list of limited practice participants looks like it did the last two days with 10 players on it. There is still one change, though: tight end Rob Gronkowski is now also listed with a back injury together with the ankle issue he has already been dealing with. Meanwhile, Bears star pass rusher Khalil Mack returned to practice today and is officially listed as questionable to participate on Sunday.

REMOVED/NOT LISTED

Bears: DB Prince Amukamara (hamstring; full participation), OL Eric Kush (neck; full participation), OL Kyle Long (non-injury related; did not participate)

Veteran offensive lineman Kyle Long was given a veteran’s day off today, while Prince Amukamara and Eric Kush will both be ready to go on Sunday.
