Pete Carroll became the Seahawks’ all-time winningest coach on Sunday

For most, October 14, 2018, will be remembered as the day the Seattle Seahawks won their first ever regular season game in England.

Meanwhile, another milestone may have gone under the radar. With the Seahawks 27-3 win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, Pete Carroll passed Mike Holmgren to become the winningest coach in team history.

Carroll and Seattle won their 91st game together on Sunday, which saw Carroll pass Holmgren and sit atop the record book for combined regular season and playoff wins. Carroll is in the midst of his ninth season with the Seahawks, while Holmgren coached the team for 10.

Earlier this season, Carroll passed the great Chuck Knox in regular season wins, and now sits just four wins behind Holmgren in that category. His win percentage of .616 is well above both Holmgren (.538) and Knox (.559), as well.

Though the past couple years may have changed some opinions about him, Carroll appears to be on track to retire—or leave Seattle—holding every coaching record in franchise history. He delivered the team’s first Super Bowl victory and was a yard away from repeating. Is Pete Carroll the best head coach in Seahawks’ history?
