The Kist & Solak Show #29
The Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles’ defense is charged with doing their job against a Carolina Panthers’ offense that is averaging a paltry 20.5 points per game on the road, sounds easy enough, right? Well The Kist & Solak Show has some thoughts about some schematic wrinkles from the Panthers that may give the Eagles fits.
Those wrinkles mostly exist in the run game and there’s no question that the Panthers are struggling to create explosive plays in the passing game. This could be blamed on the coaching staff, the front office, Cam Newton, the weapons and their snap allocation but either way, the deep ball is just not there for them right now.
Cam Newton is 2 for 16 on deep passes.. 50 yards (last), 1 TD, 1 INT, 31.1% adjusted accuracy (29th of 35), 34.9 QB Rating (last). Per PFF.

Still, the Panthers have been effective in the intermediate areas and their 1st down running attack ranks first in the league. We broke down our thoughts on the Panthers scheme and offense and how it matches up against the Eagles in depth and you can listen to it by clicking the media player below or clicking here if the player doesn’t load.
