Rams - Packers: Revisiting five Rams to watch

How did Wags’ selections perform?

Heading into their week 8 matchup with the Green Bay Packers, the Los Angeles Rams hadn’t faced much adversity in 2018. They had won the majority of their games without much of a challenge, and a lot of people - fans and media alike - were beginning to wonder how the Rams would react when faced with some adversity.

Sunday definitively answered those questions, with 4/5 of Wags Rams to watch playing key roles in the victory.

Todd Gurley

While he got off to a slow start, Gurley came on strong in the second half and ended up with a monster day for the Rams. he fell just short of 200 total yards and matched the Rams record for consecutive games with a TD at 11. Gurley also made a spectacular catch in the 2nd half that kept the offensive momentum going for the Rams.

Trevon Young

I like Wags going out on a limb here, but Young didn’t see the field this weekend. Matt Longacre did have a couple of QB hits though, so that’s something right?

Aaron Donald

Donald was up to his usual shenanigans, notching 2 sacks - making 6 in the last 8 quarters of play for the reigning defensive player of the year.

And for everyone who believes sacks are a measurement of how good a pass rusher is..... Donald is on pace for 23 sacks.

Mark Barron

Barron was somewhat inconsistent still, but made possibly the biggest play of the game for the Rams. With his team off to a slow start and down 10-0, Barron absolutely stuck Packers running back Aaron Jones for a safety.

The energy jump started the Rams offense as they immediately drove down the field and scored their first points of the game.

Brandin Cooks

Similar to Gurley, Cooks got off to a slow start as he and Rams QB Jared Goff couldn’t seem to get on the same page in the first half. Halftime adjustment proved once again to be vital for the Rams as the offense as a whole rebounded with a strong second half. Cooks was among the beneficiaries of this as he racked up a hefty 25 yard average on 3 catches.
