Self-awareness is something that is severely lacking in today’s world. There is no better evidence of that than the fact that Rishard Matthews thinks he isn’t getting a job with another team because of his anthem protest last year. Here is what he told Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network:
I reached out to FA WR Rishard Matthews about the thought of him not playing again in 2018. He told me the “hope” is he can play this year but understands that remaining unsigned is possible: “If not I’ll be better than I have ever been and ready for next season.” Full quote pic.twitter.com/D92kS9XS6O

HEY RISHARD, THE TITANS ARE GIVING YOU A BAD REP BECAUSE YOU QUIT ON THEM. Seriously, why would the Titans have anything good to say about Rishard at this point. Like he said, THEY GAVE HIM AN EXTENSION AND THEN HE QUIT. Does he expect Jon Robinson to tell other teams that Rishard is great in the locker room and always puts the team first? Go back and watch the presser Robinson did after Matthews was released. Does that look like a guy that is willing to “put in a good word” for him with other teams?
It is such a cop out to blame the anthem thing for the reason he isn’t getting a job. He is just trying to get an outcry of public support with that crap and take the focus off of the fact that he is a quitter.
And if you missed it, this isn’t the first time that Rishard has tried to force his team’s hand. John Glennon wrote a great piece here about Matthews doing the same thing with the Dolphins. Teams just don’t want a guy that has wanted to quit on the two prior teams he played on. You made your bed, Rishard. Trying to blame anything else is just sad at this point.
