Saints vs. Vikings: Sunday Night Football open thread

Whether the New Orleans Saints want to admit it or not, this is a revenge game.

The New Orleans Saints travel to US Bank Stadium Sunday night to take on the Minnesota Vikings in a rematch of the “Minneapolis Miracle” game from last year’s playoffs.

The entire week, media coverage in the Saints locker room has surrounded the narrative of a revenge game, but the Saints have strictly denied it. The defender at the center of that play, Marcus Williams, faced a slew of such questions, but to everyone he answered, “It’s just another game.” Nobody is buying that.

Earlier this week on ESPN’s NFL Live it was reported that the feeling inside the Saints’ locker room is that they won that playoff game and were robbed of their right to advance. If that’s even somewhat true, expect a fiesty Saints team on the field tonight.

New Orleans enters this game at 5-1 while the Vikings are 4-2-1; both have their eyes on a championship run. It’ll definitely be an uphill battle for the latter, however, as their team is getting hit by the injury bug pretty badly. Tonight’s inactives for the Vikings include notable names like Xavier Rhodes, Dalvin Cook, Andrew Sendejo, Anthony Barr, and Riley Reiff.

If the Vikings want a chance at a win tonight, it’ll take some real stepping up from the backups for those inactives.

Will the Saints come out firing? Can Marcus Williams get redemption for the Minneapolis Miracle? Will it even be a close game this time around? Let us know what you think in the comments.
