The Jacksonville Jaguars signed former first round pick and New York Giants offensive tackle Ereck Flowers two weeks ago and he’s yet to play for the team. The Jaguars, who placed their first two left tackles on season ending injured reserve, have been operating with Josh Walker at left tackle.
Walker has done an admirable job considering he’s a guard, but he has certainly not been good. Recently the Jaguars starting offensive tackle duo was rated one of worst in the NFL, which shouldn’t be a huge surprise. Jermey Parnell has been up and down while battling injury, but there have also been three different starting left tackles.
I know Flowers was bad for the Giants, on both sides of the line at tackle, but is it time to give him a shot at left tackle since he is at least a natural offensive tackle? Regardless of who is going to start at left tackle, you’re going to need to give them help with a back chipping or a tight end on the side.
